Press Release

Akerman today announced that Jeannil Boji has joined the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group as a partner in the Chicago office. She brings more than 18 years of experience advising companies, financial institutions, and high-net-worth individuals on complex and sensitive workplace matters.

Jeannil is widely recognized as a trusted adviser to clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies to fintech and trading firms, as well as high-profile executives facing urgent and nuanced employment issues. She focuses on proactive, strategic counseling designed to prevent disputes from escalating into costly or public litigation, while also delivering strong advocacy when disputes cannot be avoided.

Her practice spans a broad range of employment issues, including noncompete and trade secret matters; workplace privacy and technology concerns; whistleblower and retaliation claims; and evolving challenges related to remote work and the gig economy. Jeannil is also experienced in conducting sensitive workplace investigations, managing internal compliance matters, and advising on executive hiring, transitions, and separations.

“Jeannil is an exceptional addition to our team and a natural fit for Akerman’s strategic growth in key markets,” said Eric Gordon, chair of Akerman’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. “Her ability to navigate high-stakes, sensitive workplace issues with precision and discretion is exactly what our clients need in today’s rapidly evolving employment landscape. She brings a rare combination of proactive counseling and formidable litigation skills that will further strengthen our national platform.”

Jeannil regularly advises operating companies, fund sponsors, boards of directors, management companies, and family offices on high-impact employment decisions, including executive agreements and strategic workforce planning. She is also well-versed in investigating trade secret and data theft incidents, coordinating forensic reviews, and implementing recovery and preservation protocols.

When litigation arises, Jeannil is a seasoned advocate in federal and state courts nationwide. Her experience includes securing and defending against injunctions involving restrictive covenants, trade secret misappropriation, and unfair competition. She also represents clients in complex employment disputes, including wage-and-hour class and collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as well as claims involving discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower protections under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
