Akerman today announced that Matt Hendy has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate Practice Group in its New York office, the firm’s largest. With more than a decade of experience representing private equity sponsors and other financial institutions, Matt focuses his practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and private investments across a wide range of industries, including technology, business services, infrastructure, and life sciences.
“Matt’s arrival deepens our bench in private equity and M&A at a time when our clients are navigating increasingly complex deal environments,” said Jonathan Awner, co-chair of Akerman’s Corporate Practice Group.
“Matt's track record advising leading financial sponsors on some of the most significant transactions in the market makes him a tremendous asset to our clients and our team,” said David Birke, co-chair of Akerman’s Corporate Practice Group.
Matt has substantial experience leading private equity and strategic M&A transactions in a wide range of industries. He has represented numerous private equity sponsors, including CVC Capital, Harvest Partners, Investcorp, I Squared Capital, and others, in a wide range of platform and add-on acquisitions, sell-side divestitures, joint ventures and other transactions.
Prior to joining Akerman, Matt was a partner at a leading law firm in Montreal and, before that, at a global law firm in New York City, where he concentrated on private equity M&A transactions.
