Akerman today announced that Cole Beaubouef has joined the firm’s Corporate Practice Group as a partner. Based in New York, Cole brings experience advising private fund managers, family offices, and institutional investors on complex investment management, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactional matters.
"Cole's deep understanding of the investment management industry and hands-on experience with a wide range of fund structures and regulatory frameworks make him an exceptional addition to our team," said Paul Foley, chair of Akerman's Investment Management Practice. "As our clients navigate increasingly complex markets and compliance demands, Cole's insight and practical guidance will further strengthen the comprehensive support we provide to fund managers, investors, and financial institutions."
Cole’s practice focuses on structuring a broad range of investment vehicles, including hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, multi-strategy funds, distressed debt funds, and real estate funds. He regularly advises U.S. and international private fund managers, investment advisers, broker-dealers, commodity pool operators, and commodity trading advisors on formation and structuring, as well as compliance with key regulations such as the Securities Act, Securities Exchange Act, Investment Advisers Act, Investment Company Act, and ERISA.
In addition to advising fund sponsors, Cole counsels institutional investors and family offices in connection with private fund investments, co-investments, and joint venture initiatives alongside leading fund managers. He also guides clients through the design and implementation of effective compliance programs, helping them navigate today’s complex regulatory environment.
Prior to joining Akerman, Cole served in both private practice and in-house roles, including positions with Merrill Lynch’s Office of General Counsel and the New York Stock Exchange’s Division of Enforcement.
"Akerman's dynamic platform and collaborative culture provide an exciting opportunity to expand my practice and support my clients across the full spectrum of their investment management needs," said Cole. "Akerman has a long-established track record of supporting fund managers, investors, and financial institutions through every stage of their business and I look forward to further helping these clients navigate the evolving regulatory landscape and seizing new opportunities."
