Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced Stephen Glazier has joined the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in Washington, D.C.

Glazier focuses his practice on patent and technology matters, including patent prosecution and litigation. Further, he advises clients on transactions, licensing, strategic counseling, opinion letters, responses to demand letters and due diligence. He also works on equity transactions for technology companies, intellectual property evaluations and internal invention surveys.

Glazier has experience in a wide variety of industries, including software, business methods, computer systems, the Internet, nanotechnology, lubricants, hydraulic fracking, food processing, energy, finance, e-commerce and financial services. In addition to those, he counsels clients involved in the following areas: insurance, intelligent equipment, telecommunications, GPS applications, encryption, security systems, bio-ID sensors, wireless communication and hand-held devices, retailing, multimedia, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, batteries, fuel cells, oil and gas exploration and production. Glazier's practice also includes intellectual property work in coal processing, mining, electric power generation and distribution, nuclear power, hybrid and electric vehicles, vehicle telematics, supertankers, trains and airplanes, and LEDs and lighting, among others.

Glazier holds a B.S. and M.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and he earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law. He is licensed to practice in New York and Washington, D.C., and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Glazier has invented around adverse patents, and is the inventor of six U.S. patents.
