Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP today announced the growth of its Los Angeles office with corporate partner Peter Hurm. He expands the national footprint of the firm's Corporate Practice Group while adding important depth in mergers and acquisitions for publicly traded and privately held companies.

Hurm focuses his practice in the areas of corporate finance, M&A, regulatory matters, and general corporate representation across such industries as technology, entertainment, consumer goods, automotive, and manufacturing.
He serves as outside corporate development and general counsel to private companies, advising them on their ongoing business operations, as well as structuring and negotiating corporate transactions for every phase of a company’s life cycle. In the M&A arena, Hurm advises on both strategic corporate and private equity transactions. He also has experience with tax planning and structuring matters for choice of entity, executive compensation, LLCs/partnerships, and general business operations.
In addition to corporate representation, he also advises on individual business matters for corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and entertainment celebrities. He began his professional career in the corporate tax transactions department of former international “Big Five” accounting and business consulting firm Arthur Andersen LLP.
Hurm joins the Corporate Practice Group during a time of growth. The team also welcomed this year partners Cristina Gonzalez in New York, Bryan Reese in Atlanta, Will Walker in Winston-Salem, and of counsel Phillip Slinkard in Austin, as well as 10 associates across the United States.
