Press Release

Akerman, recognized for one of the largest and most active real estate legal teams in the U.S. – with nearly 160 lawyers and development professionals advising owners, developers, and investors nationwide – is pleased to welcome Partner Vivien Krieger to its New York office, the firm’s largest and fastest-growing location. Vivien joins from an Am Law 100 firm where she served as co-chair of the Land Use & Zoning Practice.

Vivien focuses her practice on real estate law, representing developers, lenders, owners, purchasers, and nonprofit organizations in a wide range of New York City land use and zoning matters. She routinely prepares applications and advocates before numerous city and state agencies, including the NYC City Planning Commission, NYC Board of Standards and Appeals, NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, NYS Department of Transportation, NYS Office of General Services, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Empire State Development Corporation. She also works closely with community boards, elected officials, and interdisciplinary project teams including architects, engineers, financial consultants, and environmental experts.

“Vivien’s deep knowledge of New York City’s land use and zoning framework and her ability to guide complex, high-stakes development projects make her an outstanding addition to our real estate team,” said Eric Rapkin, chair of Akerman’s Real Estate Practice Group. “Her reputation for sophisticated counsel and cross-sector collaboration aligns with the caliber of service our clients expect from Akerman.”

Vivien has drafted and negotiated numerous zoning lot development agreements, easement agreements, restrictive declarations, zoning opinions, and letters and has extensive experience analyzing development potential, preparing zoning resolution determination requests, and representing clients in zoning challenges. She also has litigated complex real estate disputes involving land use matters.

“I am excited to join Akerman’s exceptional real estate team and collaborate with colleagues who are driving transformational projects throughout New York City and beyond,” said Vivien. “This is a tremendous opportunity to continue serving clients at the forefront of urban development.”

An active participant in the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Vivien contributes as a member of the Awards for Excellence in Development Committee and the Technical Assistance Panels Steering Committee. She is also involved with the Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee of the New York City Bar Association, is a fellow of the Urban Design Forum, is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Zoning and Design Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of Plus Pool.
