Akerman was featured in Law360's Real Estate Roundup, which detailed the firm's representation of the cruise division of Geneva-based MSC Group in the negotiation of its design-build agreement and on the financing for the project. Arquitectonica designed the building, and MSC has contracted with Italy-based Fincantieri Infrastructure to lead the construction efforts. The cruise line has said its planned four-story, 490,000-square-foot building will be able to accommodate 36,000 passengers a day and three ships at once. As part of PortMiami's plans to add shore power connections to be more environmentally friendly, MSC's ships will be able to plug into the local grid at their births. The terminal will also be able to handle MSC's future LNG-powered ships.
