Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today continued the national growth of the Real Estate Practice Group with partner Marilyn Mullen Healy in Tampa, Fla. She enhances Akerman’s core strengths in commercial real estate, with an emphasis on complex transactions and on representing prominent developers in often high profile land use and zoning matters with significant background in redevelopment and development within the urban core.

Healy concentrates her practice on providing counsel and advice to clients on complex commercial real estate transactions, business and governmental law focusing on land use, zoning, procurement, licensing, contracts, urban redevelopment, public/private partnerships, banking and finance, and transportation and logistics matters within the Tampa Bay region. She has specific experience in negotiating and finalizing complex residential and commercial real estate transactions, representing large scale national retailers, negotiating sophisticated leasing relationships, and has extensive experience in all aspects of procuring and maintaining development and regulatory entitlements on local, state and federal levels

Healy joins one of the largest legal teams in the real estate sector, according to Law360. In addition to Healy, Akerman’s Tampa office has recently welcomed Hillsborough County School Board Attorney and partner Jim Porter. In the last year, the team has welcomed real estate finance partner William Bernfeld in Los Angeles, former Broward County Attorney Joni Armstrong Coffey as partner in the Miami office, in addition to a leading team of four land use and zoning partners in Chicago headed by veteran lawyer John “Jack” George.
