Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced the continued growth of the Real Estate Practice Group with New York Partner Marc Heller. He bolsters Akerman's core strengths in complex real estate transactions and its national capabilities in multifamily development.

"He regularly represents clients in complex financing transactions, workouts and restructurings and joint ventures."

Heller focuses his practice on commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions of multifamily properties throughout the United States, multifamily development and joint ventures. These representations have included the negotiation of complex ownership structures relating to foreign investment in U.S. real estate. He also represents owners and lenders in workouts and restructuring and has represented lending institutions in more than $3.5 billion in commercial real estate loans. His clients include institutional borrowers and buyers and sellers of real estate loans.

Heller joins one of the six largest real estate practice groups globally, according to Law360. The team also recently expanded its national strengths with land use Partners Jack George, Meg George, Kathleen Duncan and Chris Leach in Chicago; real estate Partners Lori Albert and Allison Nelson in Denver; and land use Partners Ellen Berkowitz, Lisa Kolieb and Brady McShane in Los Angeles.
