Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced the growth of the Washington, D.C., office with Partner Philip Sprinkle. He joins Akerman's Healthcare Practice Group after he served as chair of the health law practice group at a prominent regional law firm.

Sprinkle focuses his practice on a variety of healthcare regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, board governance, joint ventures and reimbursement at both the state and federal level. He represents privately-held companies with an emphasis on physician groups, academic medical centers, and affiliated providers. He also specializes in non-profit tax issues, providing advice on private inurement, private benefit and excess benefit transactions, as well as unrelated business income taxation, joint ventures, conflicts of interest and governance issues.

Sprinkle is Board Certified in Health Law by The Florida Bar and is a frequent speaker and author on healthcare and corporate matters from taxable and tax-exempt financing, to medical staff matters and academic medicine.

Sprinkle is the latest addition to Akerman's Healthcare Practice Group. Other recent partners to join the team are healthcare transactional partners Martin Monaco and William Weiner in New York. Along with Sprinkle, their combined experience bolsters Akerman's ability to serve healthcare institutions in multi-jurisdictional transactions and complex state and federal healthcare laws and regulations, including healthcare fraud and abuse.
