Real Estate partner Kathleen Duncan and associate Harrison Cooper have been selected by the Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago (ECAC) as recipients of the Outstanding Community Support Award. The ECAC was founded in 1984 in response to the influx of Ethiopian immigrants moving to Chicago, hoping to mitigate issues of culture shock, depression, psychological crises, and unemployment in the community. The organization is committed to serving the educational, psychological, and socio-economic needs of Ethiopians and other similarly situated groups in the Chicago area.

Developers, institutions, and homeowners throughout the Chicago region rely on Duncan for legal counsel in zoning, land use, and real estate matters. With trusted working relationships with City officials and staff, and in-depth understanding of how the City interprets land use and zoning codes, she helps her clients obtain approvals for planned developments, zoning amendments, special uses, variations, subdivisions, vacations, dedications, and various municipal licenses. A leader in the community, Duncan is an elected Trustee in the Village of Barrington, Illinois.

Cooper focuses his practice on commercial leasing, real estate acquisitions and sales, land use planning and zoning entitlements, and related corporate transactions. He represents individual and institutional clients in a wide variety of real estate matters, including pro-landlord or client leases for retail, office, and industrial spaces, the acquisition or sale of every type and class of real estate, and securing local and state special and conditional land use approvals.

Duncan and Cooper will be presented with an award at ECAC’s upcoming fundraising event on October 16, 2021 at the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center in Chicago.
