Akerman was once again selected as the recipient of the Daily Business Review's "Litigation Departments of the Year" award, which celebrates "powerhouse practices" at leading law firms in Florida. The Akerman team received top honors in intellectual property within the large law firm category. This honor stands as a testament to the firm's national litigation platform and intellectual property capabilities, whose reach and scope span across industries and jurisdictions.

Under intellectual property, the publication recognized Akerman for defeating two high-profile trademark infringement claims on behalf of renowned hip-hop artist Logic and the B Hotel Group. The Akerman team, led by Mark Passler, co-chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, and David Brafman, prevailed on both lawsuits with swift victories against the plaintiffs. The Akerman team also defended client Pride Family Brands against a claim of conflicting priority trademark rights brought by Pride Mobility Products in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The latter later discontinued its claim, as the defendant's trademark application drafted by Akerman defeated two of the plaintiff's motions.

The Daily Business Review is to honor Akerman at a Nov. 17 award ceremony in Miami.
