Traditional Labor Law Practice Co-Chair Amy Gaylord discussed the Biden administration's union blueprint with Law360, explaining why it's unlikely to sizable impact in the short-term. The White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment released a report Monday saying the federal government must become more union-friendly. It outlines nearly 70 recommendations for federal agencies that would make it easier for workers to organize, increase transparency about organizing rights and use the full force of the federal government to support pro-union efforts. Gaylord explained that since union membership rates have already existed in some form, the report's recommendations are unlikely to have a substantive impact. For example, the NLRB has a robust outreach program about workers' organizing rights, and the agency's 26 regional offices across the country already have information officers charged with referring workers to the proper agency where they should file complaints about alleged labor law violations.

"Much of this report seems generic — like, do better at this or that — without a working knowledge of what the agencies are currently doing in this area. Many of the agencies are already doing what's in the report," said Gaylord.
