Press Release

Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP is pleased to announce that Akerman's Land Use and Development Practice Chair Cecelia Bonifay in Orlando, who retired in November, has been honored as one of Florida State University's 2022 Distinguished Alumni. Honorees are recognized for their professional achievements, contributions to society, and support of the university. The university will celebrate the honorees during the Annual Distinguished Alumni Gala on November 18, 2022.

Bonifay, while practicing, helped developers navigate the governmental approval process for their real estate projects. With her strong background in urban planning and development approvals for large-scale projects, she represented such clients as DDR, FedEx, Kitson & Partners, Mattamy Homes, and Pineloch Management in the development of commercial, residential, and industrial projects. Clients benefited from her keen analysis of a wide range of land use, zoning, sustainable development, and environmental matters.

In addition to leading the firm's Land Use group, Bonifay also served on Akerman's Executive Committee.
