Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP today announced Jacksonville Office Managing Partner Christian George has been named 2023 president-elect of the Jacksonville Bar Association. He will be sworn as president-elect during the Jacksonville Bar Association's annual meeting luncheon in June 2023 and he will begin his term as president in June 2024. George has served on the Jacksonville Bar Association Board of Governors since 2016, previously as secretary and most recently as treasurer.
George is very active in both the local and state bar associations, as a recent past president of the Young Lawyers’ Division of The Florida Bar, an organization with approximately 28,000 members, and a former President of the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section.
Committed to service in the Jacksonville community, George is the most recent recipient of the Jacksonville “Lawyer of the Year” honor awarded by the Jacksonville Daily Record and Jacksonville Bar Association. He is the youngest recipient in the history of the award, which has been annually awarded since 1986.
An experienced business litigator with a national practice and deep local roots, George devotes his practice to protecting the rights of Fortune 500 companies and small businesses, shareholders, equity investors, members and partners in professional corporations, LLCs and partnerships, individuals, and families in all areas of commercial, bankruptcy, and real estate litigation. In his bankruptcy practice, George focuses on the protection of secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, vendors, asset purchasers, post-petition lenders, and creditors’ committees in bankruptcy courts around the United States.
