Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP is pleased to announce that Fraud and Recovery Practice Group partner Eduardo Espinosa has been elected a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Fellows of the Foundation are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout the state of Texas. Election is a mark of distinction and recognition of Espinosa's contributions to the legal profession.

Each year, only one-third of one percent of Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows. Once nominees are selected, they must be elected by the full Texas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees.

The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the country. Founded in 1965 to assist the public and improve the profession of law, the Foundation has maintained its mission to build a strong justice system for all Texans. The Foundation has distributed more than $23 million throughout Texas to assist nonprofit organizations with a wide range of justice-related programs and services.

Espinosa, based in Dallas, is an experienced court-appointed fiduciary frequently recommended by regulators to serve in proceedings where there is concern that alleged fraudsters will dissipate the remaining assets. A former enforcement lawyer with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Espinosa has served as receiver, receiver’s counsel, and trustee, in various federal and state proceedings in the life settlement sector, fraudulent securities offerings, EB-5 offerings, and general commercial litigation. In addition to his fraud and recovery practice, Espinosa advises clients on the legal and regulatory aspects of their commercial and transactional opportunities. His practice covers an enterprise’s entire lifecycle, including formation, capitalization, governance, domestic and international transactions, mergers and acquisitions, reporting requirements, and regulatory enforcement. Espinosa serves on the board of the Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation.
