Labor and Employment Practice Group Chair Eric Gordon was recently appointed to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Southern Florida Chapter Board of Directors.

Founded in 1967 in New York City, the non-profit, volunteer-driven organization is dedicated to finding cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the quality of life for the millions of children and adults affected by these diseases. Since CCFA's founding, the Foundation has played a role in every major breakthrough in inflammatory bowel disease ("IBD") research and has invested more than $500 million into finding the causes, treatments, and cures for these diseases. The Southern Florida Chapter serves the IBD community throughout the bottom half of the state, from the Treasure Coast to Key West and everywhere in between. 

An experienced employment lawyer and litigator, Eric represents Fortune 500 companies operating in the hospitality, healthcare, retail, and telecommunications sectors, with substantial experience in federal and state jury trials, class actions, arbitrations, and defending claims before administrative agencies. In addition to his litigation experience, Eric provides clients with valuable day-to-day preventive counseling on compliance and avoiding lawsuits, offering in-house training programs on topics such as hiring/firing, sexual harassment, diversity, Family and Medical Leave Act, discrimination, and wage and hour compliance. Eric has chaired Akerman's national Labor and Employment Practice Group the past nine years and has practiced law for close to thirty years.
