Grasford Smith, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, has been appointed Vice Chair of The Florida Bar Corporate Counsel Committee, effective July 1, 2025. This prestigious appointment reflects Grasford’s longstanding commitment to advancing the legal profession and supporting in-house counsel across the state.

In this leadership role, Grasford will help guide the Committee’s mission to enhance communication and collaboration among corporate counsel, develop educational programming, and advise The Florida Bar on matters of interest to the corporate legal community.

Grasford currently serves on four key Board committees of The Florida Bar:

  • Communications Committee, Chair Elect
  • Legislation Committee
  • Program Evaluation Committee
  • Strategic Planning Committee

In addition to these important roles, he also serves as the Standing Committee Liaison to the Voluntary Bar Liaison Committee and as the Section Liaison to the Business Law Section, where he supports cross-sectional initiatives and helps align strategic objectives across the Bar’s many constituencies.

Grasford’s legal practice at Akerman focuses on complex commercial litigation, internal investigations, and corporate governance disputes. He represents Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, and executives in high-stakes matters and is widely respected for his strategic insight and leadership within the profession.
