Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP today announced litigation partner Grasford Smith in West Palm Beach has been selected by the National Bar Association (NBA) as a recipient of its coveted Power 50 award, presented to a member of the legal profession for her or his exemplary career and selfless commitment to the legal community, and who is accomplished in all areas of the legal profession. The group will present the award during the NBA Power 50 Luncheon on July 22.

Smith, President-Elect of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation matters and is certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a Circuit Civil Mediator. He has experience representing such clients as Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, athletic leagues, technology companies, and a U.S. Congressman, in addition to a variety of small and medium-sized businesses. Grasford approaches dispute resolution as an opportunity to further his clients’ business goals. He develops comprehensive yet practical legal solutions by first understanding his clients’ business needs.

The NBA is the nation's oldest and largest national association of predominantly African American lawyers, judges, educators, and law students as the legal voice of the African American community. Smith will receive his award during the group's 97thAnnual Convention and Exhibits in Memphis on July 22.
