Akerman Real Estate Partner Marc B. Heller has been named a 2026 Influencer in Multifamily Real Estate by GlobeSt. The recognition honors the most notable professionals in the multifamily sector for their impact on the industry and the communities it serves. With more than 45 years of experience in commercial real estate, Marc focuses his practice on acquisitions and dispositions of multifamily properties and development throughout the United States, advising clients on related joint ventures and debt. He counsels large national platforms as well as smaller regional ones as outside counsel and, for certain longstanding clients, as a trusted extension of their in-house teams, helping navigate complex ownership structures that often involve a mix of domestic and foreign investors. Marc also counsels owners and lenders in connection with loans, workouts and restructuring, and has represented lending institutions in more than $3.5 billion in commercial real estate loans. Marc also represents owners of property leased to big box retailers.
Marc was instrumental in helping multifamily visionary Robert Hart launch TruAmerica Multifamily LLC more than 13 years ago, and the company has remained a cornerstone of his practice ever since. Now one of the nation's leading institutional owners and operators of workforce multifamily properties, TruAmerica has relied on Marc to establish new investment verticals and execute significant transactions across the country, including most recently the launch of TruAmerica’s structured finance group.
