In The News

Government Affairs and Public Policy partner Richard Spees was recently featured in a Q&A for the DC Bar Blog offering insights on his satirical new novel, "Capitol Gains." In his book, Spees, who is also a lobbyist, introduces readers to Richard Brewster, a junior partner at a major Beltway law firm, who invents a client for himself on paper in a fit of boredom. The scam takes Brewster on a wild ride with dizzying highs and crashing falls, lampooning the businesses of law and politics along the way. The book is comical, while also outlining the real difficulties that lobbyists often face.

"In terms of other attorneys looking down on lobbyists, that’s absolutely true, and every day we wake up feeling bad about ourselves," Spees told the reporter from Bar Association publication. "I think what’s interesting is that people who do legal work look down on us until they need to get something done, then they change their opinions very quickly."

“Capitol Gains” is available in hard and soft cover on AmazonBarnes and Nobles and Target, as well as e-book. For more information visit rickspees.com.
