Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP today announced healthcare partner Steven Grigas was honored with the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award of the Florida Bar Health Law Executive Council (HLEC) during the 2022 Annual Convention of The Florida Bar on June 23. He was also recognized and awarded as Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee and Mentor of the Year for his excellence in leadership, professionalism, pro bono activities, community involvement, and contributions to the section. Grigas, a past Chair of the Health Law Section and recipient of its Medal of Honor will continue with the HLEC for the immediate 2022-2025 term. 

A former interim Medicaid Director, Assistant Deputy Secretary, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Medicaid Counsel for the State of Florida, Grigas has presided over the State of Florida’s $15 billion Medicaid program with particular focus on managed care, disease management, pharmacy services, long term care, and hospital services. Grigas is experienced in Medicaid policies and procedures, reimbursement issues, program integrity, and fraud control. He is also an accomplished litigator with considerable experience in administrative, state, and federal courts, and has worked in various capacities in both federal and state government.
