Press Release

Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP today announced government affairs and public policy partner Zachary Kobrin in Fort Lauderdale has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Cannabis Bar Association, a global community of the most experienced legal practitioners serving the regulated cannabis industry.

Elected by INCBA membership for a two-year term, Kobrin will play a key role in steering the direction of the association while serving its members in their practice of law.

Kobrin previously served as Vice President and General Counsel of one of the largest cannabis companies in the U.S. where he was responsible for all corporate and regulatory legal matters, including transactional, banking, and insurance matters; as well as ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations. Kobrin was also previously the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for another publicly traded, multi-state cannabis company where he was a key member of the team that helped take his former company public on the Canadian Securities Exchange. He is now an integral part of the Akerman Cannabis Practice, where he focuses on cannabis and hemp law.

Kobrin's cannabis practice involves advising clients on the evolving, complex legal and business issues impacting companies with interests in this heavily regulated industry. Amongst his many honors and distinctions, Kobrin was appointed as Co-Chair of the Florida Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee by the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture & Consumer Services. He speaks frequently at business, legal, and industry events and advises on such issues as business development and formation, as well as legal and regulatory and compliance matters throughout the United States and international markets. Kobrin also advises clients on developing federal and state public policy matters and banking and insurance issues impacting clients in the industry.
