Akerman Partners Carol L. Schoffel Faber, Co-Chair of Akerman’s Distressed Property Practice, and Dennis Kerbel, Chair of Akerman’s Florida Land Use and Entitlements Practice, will be honored by the Miami-Dade Bar at its Circle of Excellence Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, November 19.
The Circle of Excellence Awards celebrate attorneys whose leadership, professionalism, and contributions have elevated the legal profession and the South Florida community. Carol was recognized in the Real Property category and Dennis was selected in the Environmental and Land Use category.
Carol has more than 40 years of experience representing financial institutions, real estate companies, and domestic and international investors in a wide range of complex real estate transactions, from financing, leasing, and acquisitions and sales, to distressed loans and properties, from several million to hundreds of millions of dollars, on vacant land, construction projects, and developed properties of all kinds. Carol is active in the legal, business and local community, lectures, mentors, and is widely recognized as a leader in real estate and finance law and a trusted advisor to institutional and private clients alike.
Dennis advises clients on all aspects of land use, zoning, and local government law, guiding projects through complex approval processes and litigation when necessary. A former chief of the Zoning, Land Use & Environment Section of the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office, Dennis brings extensive experience from both government and private practice to help clients achieve successful development outcomes.
