Akerman is representing Brazilian electronics brand QBex Computadores SA (QBex) in a $100 million lawsuit against Intel Corporation (Intel). Filed in California federal court, the action charges that Intel provided Qbex with faulty microprocessors for its smartphone line, which caused phones to overheat, among other dangerous consequences. Luis A. Perez, co-chair of the Latin America & The Caribbean Practice, is leading the Akerman team representing QBex, which includes Darryl R. Graham, Mark Riera and Francisco A. Rodriguez. The case was reported by top national and technology publications, including Fortune.com, EETimes, ExtremeTech, Law360 and Yahoo.com, among many others.
