Akerman represented Slavic 401k in the successful completion of phase two of its acquisition by TriSpan, a global private equity firm. The transaction closed on May 1, 2025, with TriSpan exercising its option to acquire a majority equity interest in Slavic 401k and its related entities.

The Akerman team was led by Brian Nugent, a  partner in the firm’s Denver office and a recognized leader in transactions involving the “multiple employer” industry. He was supported by Melissa Cizmorris, also a partner in Akerman’s Denver office, who played a key role throughout both phases of the transaction.

This transaction marks the 30th deal led by Brian and Akerman’s M&A team in the multiple employer industry — which includes professional employer organizations (PEOs), temporary staffing firms, employer of record (EOR) companies, and associated vendors like Slavic 401k, since Brian rejoined Akerman in 2019.
