Press Release

Akerman Senterfitt today announced that it was recognized as a 2013 Sustaining Law Firm of Bay Area Legal Services (BALS), a nonprofit, public interest law firm that provides civil legal assistance to low-income residents in the Tampa Bay area. Over 40 lawyers in Akerman's Tampa office collectively contributed more than $15,000 to BALS to assist them in continuing to provide legal services and advocate on behalf of those most in need including seniors, veterans, victims of domestic violence, and children in foster care.

"Akerman is a proud champion of Bay Area Legal's work and the critical services they provide to tens of thousands of individuals and families in our area," said David Doney, office managing shareholder of the firm's Tampa office. "As fellow allies in the community, we applaud their long history of providing access to quality legal services and education across Florida's West Coast and share in their commitment to preserving the independence, hope, and dignity of the underserved."

BALS serves clients in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota Counties.
