Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced the arrival of Partner Damien DeLaney to the firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group in Los Angeles.
DeLaney focuses his practice on employment litigation, having handled over 40 class and representative actions, as well as numerous other employment matters, in federal and state courts and arbitration, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims under California law. He regularly defends employers from California Labor Code class actions, representative actions under the Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), and FLSA collective actions. Damien also advises employers on a wide range of employment issues, including wage and hour compliance workplace investigations, employee discipline, employee separations, and policy and procedure review.
DeLaney is the latest addition to Akerman's Labor and Employment Practice Group with four partners in three offices recently joining the firm with Brian Nugent in Denver, Amy Moor Gaylord in Chicago, and Michael Gallion and David Van Pelt in Los Angeles. DeLaney's arrival marks the team's headcount nearly tripling in size since 2016 from 21 to 60 lawyers in key markets, including New York, Washington, D.C., and across Florida.
