Akerman is proud to announce Miami attorney Benjamin "Ben" Wilson has joined the firm's Real Estate Practice Group as a partner.
"Ben has built an impressive reputation for himself within the South Florida real estate community, so we are very pleased to have him join the team," said Eric Rapkin, Real Estate Practice Group Chair.
Ben focuses his work on real estate development and finance, hospitality, and commercial and residential real estate transactions. He represents national builders and developers of master planned, condominium, and multifamily residential communities throughout the real estate development process. He also represents lenders and investors in these projects. Ben counsels clients through all phases of residential and commercial real estate development, including contract and/or lease negotiation, due diligence, land acquisitions and dispositions, platting, loan negotiation, and the creation of homeowners’ or property owners' associations and related community or project governing documents.
"I am very excited to bring my practice to a firm so respected for its real estate practice in Florida and across the country," Ben said. "I look forward to contributing to Akerman's continued success."
Ben most recently served as general counsel for The Viera Company, the master land developer for the community of Viera in Melbourne, Florida, consisting of a 20,000-acre master planned community. During his time at The Viera Company, he worked with management in connection with the development and sale of ground lease of land and entitlements to retail, hotel, residential, and commercial developers; the development and sale of lots to homebuilders; the homebuilding and sale process by their homebuilder affiliate Viera Builders; and the operation matters relating to golf clubs, community property owners associations, and recreational clubs.
