Neisen Kasdin, co-managing partner of Akerman's Miami office and a leading land use lawyer, has been named to The Real Deal’s prestigious TRD 100, which annually recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact on the real estate industry through leadership, dealmaking, and influence in shaping the built environment. Neisen was recognized as a real estate titan in South Florida.

Neisen is widely regarded as one of the region’s foremost authorities on land use, zoning, and complex development approvals. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, he has built one of South Florida’s most formidable land use practices, advising many of the region’s largest developers on transformative, mixed-use projects and helping navigate the regulatory and community dynamics critical to project success.

A former mayor of Miami Beach from 1997 to 2001 and longtime city commissioner, Neisen established his real estate and public policy credentials during a pivotal period of growth, helping guide a wave of redevelopment that balanced historic preservation with economic expansion. He later served as vice chair of the Miami Downtown Development Authority, where he led the creation of the city’s Downtown Master Plan, further shaping Miami’s urban evolution.

At Akerman, Neisen has played a leading role in securing approvals for landmark developments that have helped define Miami’s modern landscape, including projects such as Brickell City Centre, the Design District, and the Faena District, as well as developments in emerging neighborhoods like Wynwood and Little Haiti. Most recently he provided representation on securing Miami-Dade County approvals for a planned 54-story headquarters in the Brickell area for Citadel, the global investment firm.
