Beth Zafonte, director of Akerman’s Economic Development Services, spoke to The Wall Street Journal about the rise in women serving on Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) boards. During the 2019 spring proxy season, 50.4% of new directors, or 60 of 119, were women, according to the article titled, “Old Boys’ Club Gives Ground as More Women Join Real-Estate Boards.”

“We've got a seat at the table, and it’s advantageous to everyone,” Zafonte said.
