Bloomberg Environment quoted Matthew Schroeder on the latest state lawsuit against the makers of aqueous film-forming foam, known as AFFF, which contains per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly found in contamination from the use of firefighting foam. The latest lawsuit, filed by the office of New York’s Attorney General claims toxic substances in the manufacturers’ products threatens public health and damages to the state’s natural resources. The lawsuit follows similar legal actions in other states, including New Jersey, New Hampshire, and North Carolina.
“It appears to me the State of New York is getting more aggressive in its pursuit of AFFF manufacturers and distributors, as are many other states that have already brought similar claims,” Schroeder told the publication.
