Carol L. Schoffel Faber, partner in Akerman’s Real Estate Practice Group and co-chair of Akerman's Distressed Property Practice, has been elected President of the Florida Chapter of the International Women's Forum (IWF) for the 2026-2027 term.

The International Women's Forum is an invitation-only global network of nearly 8,500 preeminent women leaders across 35 countries and 77 local forums. The Florida Chapter consists of more than 250 women of significant achievement spanning business, law, government, medicine, and social leadership. As president, Carol will lead initiatives to advance women's leadership and foster mentorship both locally and globally.

Carol has been an active IWF Florida member since 2017, serving on the board since 2019 and holding various leadership positions throughout her tenure.

Carol represents clients in complex real estate transactions across financing, acquisitions and sales, leasing, and distressed property. Her work includes major developments in Miami, Manhattan, and nationwide, representing financial institutions, private lenders, real estate companies, and domestic and international investors in transactions, ranging from several million to hundreds of millions of dollars. She is listed in Best Lawyers 2026 for Real Estate Law and was honored by the Miami-Dade Bar as a 2025 Circle of Excellence Honoree for Real Property. She was also named as a “Women of Influence” in Real Estate by GlobeSt. in 2025. Carol serves as an advisory board member to the University of Miami School of Law's Real Property Development LL.M. Program and is an active member in leading industry organizations, including the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
