Felicia Leborgne Nowels was selected by corporate counsel as the recipient of Lexology's 2017 Client Choice Awards. She was one of four U.S. lawyers awarded in the international trade category, and the only lawyer to receive this distinction in Florida.

The awards annually recognize a select number of partners worldwide, who stand apart for their superior client service. The criteria for the awards focus on the ability to add real value to clients' business above and beyond other players in the market. Chosen from a pool of more than 2,000 individual assessments, winners are selected based on surveys of senior corporate counsel and client feedback.

Nowels is Board Certified in International Law by The Florida Bar, and focuses her practice on international trade and customs law, including transactional, regulatory and litigation matters. She assists domestic and foreign companies across a range of sectors with cross-border movement of goods and services. She is skilled at structuring and negotiating multi-national agreements, and helping her clients maintain compliant business practices. She is responsible for securing requisite licenses and approvals for clients entering goods into the U.S. market or exporting goods to foreign countries. She also represents her clients when faced with administrative action taken by federal and state agencies, including investigations, recalls and penalty proceedings.

Among her notable experience, Nowels was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve on the Florida District Export Council and serves as Treasurer of the Northern and Central West Florida DEC. She serves as chair of the International Law Certification Committee for The Florida Bar and she is a past board member of the Tallahassee/Leon County EDC's International Business Council, and she is a co-founder of Mackell's International Trade and Customs subgroup.
