Crain’s and The Real Deal reported on the New York Court of Appeals’ rejection to hear arguments in a coalition’s bid to end a rezoning project in New York’s Inwood neighborhood. The motion ends a two-year legal battle aimed at stopping the rezoning project. Akerman represented one of the developers as land use counsel and represented four developers as amici curiae in the Appellate Division. The project will include a significant number of affordable housing units in the area covered by the rezoning.

Richard Leland shared with Crain’s, “The Appellate Division properly applied long-standing principles of law regarding the environmental review of land-use actions by the city, and there was no need for the Court of Appeals to review that decision.”
