In The News

Cynthia Carlson authored an article in the Naples Daily News titled, "Using Separate Writings to Dispose of Tangible Personal Property," which summarizes the process of using a memo to designate the recipients of a person's tangible property. In the piece, Carlson identifies what constitutes tangible property, discusses what elements the memo should include, and outlines the kind of property that cannot be listed in this document.

"For the memo to be valid, your Will must refer to it and may provide that the most recent version of the memo supersedes any prior version," Carlson wrote. "The memo must describe each item and the identity of its recipient with reasonable certainty, and you must sign the memo. Importantly, if you revise the memo or prepare a new one, you should date it too."
