The Daily Business Review featured Akerman as one of three law firms in Florida to appear on the American Lawyers' Am Law 100 list. The firm rose one slot to the 97th largest law firm in the United States, based on its 2015 financial success.
The publication wrote, "At Akerman, the strategy involved a marriage of traditional services and innovative practice areas. The firm introduced Akerman Bench, an appellate offering that allows attorneys to hold mock trials before attorneys who are former appellate judges. The addition has been a primary revenue."
Andrew Smulian, Akerman chairman and CEO was quoted, "It's a combination of stability and agility. We combined a century of stability as a law firm and a real agility that's propelled us into one of the most innovative law firms into the country."
