The legal questions around the use of artificial intelligence continue spread across every aspect of our lives, including how it should be taxed, as noted in this recent Law360 article featuring insights from Akerman Tax Practice Co-Chair David Blum. The article explores how states might tax the use of AI.
For his part, Blum told Law360 it will likely be some time before states provide detailed guidance on the matter, but he doesn't expect much change from their perspective.
“Most states have definitions of digital goods, digital products and digital services,” Blum said. “It will likely fall under the umbrella of a SaaS-type product in the eyes of the state.”
