Dennis A. Kerbel, chair of Akerman's Florida Land Use and Entitlements Practice, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS).
JCS has served the South Florida community since 1920, operating programs throughout Miami-Dade County that address food insecurity, mental health services, domestic violence support, and senior care.
Dennis has extensive experience in land use law and governmental approval processes. As former chief of the Zoning, Land Use & Environment Section of the Miami-Dade County Attorney's Office, he represented Miami-Dade County on planning, zoning, and environmental matters for more than two decades. He is listed in Best Lawyers 2026 for Land Use and Zoning Law and was honored by the Miami-Dade Bar as a 2025 Circle of Excellence Honoree for Environmental and Land Use. Dennis teaches land use and constitutional law as an adjunct professor at Florida International University College of Law and St. Thomas University School of Law.
