Ginny Childs, managing partner of Akerman’s Orlando office, was among the 17 local lawyers who participated in a roundtable discussion organized by the Orlando Business Journal. The legal leaders identified the legislative issues that could have an impact on local business, such as the Opportunities Zones Program and ongoing federal partisan disagreements.

Childs discussed medical marijuana and Akerman’s role in the emerging industry. “We have a large cannabis practice group. We started it a couple of years ago with a lot of handwringing to figure out whether it’s a space to be in, whether we can accept bags of money – the answer is no. We are getting opportunities statewide to consult and help advise from a regulatory standpoint, as well as just a ‘here’s how you are going to run your business.’”
