Akerman is proud to share that Litigation Partner Grasford Smith has been reelected to The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors, representing the 15th Circuit, Seat 1.
The 52-member Board of Governors has exclusive authority to formulate and adopt matters of policy concerning the activities of The Florida Bar, subject to limitations imposed by the rules regulating the bar.
Grasford focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation matters. He has experience representing Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, athletic leagues, technology companies, and a U.S. Congressman, in addition to a variety of small and medium-sized businesses. He is also certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a circuit civil mediator.
In addition to serving on the Board of Governors, Grasford is Vice President of the National Bar Association and he currently serves on the Florida State University College of Business Board of Governors and Executive Committee. He is past President of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the immediate past Chair of the American Heart Association, among several other roles, and he is also past President of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County.
Grasford has been honored for excellence in Lawdragon, Super Lawyers Magazine, The Best Lawyers in America, South Florida Business Journal, Florida Trend, and in American Lawyer Media’s Daily Business Review.
