Jaclyn Scarinci commented on the future of New York City’s land use policies and rezoning process, particularly as the city recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Bisnow, communities of color in New York City were significantly impacted by the crisis, and questions around rezoning guidelines are being raised by advocates and public officials.
“Rezonings are basically a blueprint for the future planning strategies for neighborhoods. I think city planning will be looking at areas that were extremely hard hit by COVID and how the racial inequities that have shown through this pandemic, how the potential rezonings will affect those specific issues.”
