Cannabis Practice Chair Jonathan Robbins was quoted in a Law360 report titled, “A Primer on Insurance for The Legal Cannabis Biz,” discussing critical factors companies and entrepreneurs should consider when it comes to insurance coverage for their legal marijuana business. Among others, Robbins explained those include comprehensive first-party property insurance to protect physical company assets, cyberinsurance to safeguard sensitive data and meet regulators' demands, as well as director-and-officer policies that indemnifiy as appropriate owners and board members of cannabis firms.

"Cannabis is a highly regulated industry, but the regulation is inconsistent because it varies from state to state, and the federal prohibition is still in place," Robbins told Law360. "It is not unreasonable to assume that if investors' cannabis companies lose money, they may go after the directors and officers."
