Jonathan Robbins, chair of Akerman’s Cannabis Practice, spoke to Law360 about the increasing environmental regulations set by states that participate in the cannabis industry.
Robbins told Law360 that his clients understand and work through regulations without much issue. He was quoted, “To most of the people I deal with, it's a cost of doing business responsibly and so they get it. Whereas it's frustrating to big businesses that are starting to get involved in the space to have to deal with the crop not being treated like other crops from a tax perspective, I don't hear them complaining about the environmental burdens and responsibilities."
