A referendum to legalize recreational cannabis use in Florida fell just short of the needed 60% voter approval on Tuesday but Akerman's Cannabis Practice Chair, Jonathan Robbins, tells Law360 he remains optimistic for the future.
"We have one of two options here: either the Legislature will hear that 56% of the citizens of Florida are in favor of a regulated adult-use program, or, if not, there will be another opportunity," Robbins told the publication.
Robbins also noted that Floridians approved the use of medical marijuana in 2016 after a similar amendment failed two years prior.
