Jordan T. Cohen, who leads Akerman's Digital Health Team, was quoted by HealthcareInfoSecurity in an article examining a new AI cyber governance playbook for the healthcare sector.
The article, "AI Governance Playbook Calls for Enterprise Risk Controls," reports on the Health Sector Coordinating Council's 87-page Health Industry AI Cyber Governance Framework Implementation Guide, which is designed to help healthcare security leaders address the cybersecurity, privacy, patient safety, supply chain, and resiliency challenges that accompany AI adoption — including risks ranging from sensitive patient data exposure to AI systems hallucinating incorrect diagnoses or drug recommendations. Jordan, who counsels healthcare providers and digital health platforms on privacy and data security compliance, said that AI is reshaping how healthcare organizations think about data governance. "With AI, data governance in healthcare organizations is becoming much more complicated due to all of these flows of data, both within the organization and to third parties," he said.
He noted that the complexity grows as organizations move toward more autonomous tools. "As those workflows, especially agentic workflows, get more complex, you're going to be introducing new risks," Jordan said.
