Joshua Rinesmith was quoted in a Law360 report titled, “NY Real Estate Legislation to Watch in The 2nd Half of 2018,” discussing the future of significant policy developments in New York real estate. Those inlcude rezoning proposals for various city boroughs, including Brooklyn and Manhattan’s Inwood neighborhood, among others.

“The city is looking at Gowanus [in Brooklyn] and trying to encourage denser development in areas that can support it, and is also looking at zoning policies that may incentivize building other uses,” Rinesmith told law360. “The exact zoning framework hasn’t been released or put forth. That is something that we’re going to be watching over the next six months.”

“What [the city is] envisioning for the Inwood rezoning is to create a special district, with the goals of increasing density along the major thoroughfares,” he added. “And taking advantage of one of Inwood’s natural resources: the coastline. They’ve created a waterfront access plan.”
