The Los Angeles Business Journal has selected two Akerman partners to include on its prestigious Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys list this year. Kanika Corley (Sports and Entertainment) and Emily Patajo (Labor and Employment) will be honored for their leadership and impact in the legal field and within the LA community.

Corley represents an array of clients including print, digital, and television media companies; technology companies; and sports and entertainment companies. She is heavily involved in the legal community as a frequent author and speaker, and, over the past year, she has been recognized for her work by Super Lawyers magazine, Benchmark Litigation, Attorney Intel and the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Patajo focuses her practice on employment litigation matters in state and federal courts and in binding arbitration. She represents employers in various industries, including grocery, retail, technology, and healthcare, among others. She is routinely involved in the risk assessment and litigation of matters concerning claims of wrongful termination and unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in violation of California law. Clients also turn to Patajo to defend and litigate wage and hour class action cases.
