LaKeisha Marsh, Higher Education and Collegiate Athletics Practice Chair, was highlighted in an article by Bloomberg Law featuring the legal team which represented Adtalem Global Education in its acquisition of Walden University. Marsh, who served as lead regulatory counsel, is one of five Black women who spearheaded the $1.48 billion transaction on behalf of Adtalem. This was the first time that the five lawyers had ever seen a deal team entirely led by Black women.
“Sometimes it takes a company to take a chance on doing the opposite of what everybody else is doing and to provide opportunities. I hope that it will at least open the eyes of many general counsel to truly understand that you have to be intentional,” Marsh said.
