Law360 profiles Akerman's Digital Health Team and its leader, Jordan Cohen, in a new Q&A article. Akerman launched the interdisciplinary team in June to provide legal and regulatory counsel on matters including healthcare privacy, intellectual property, FDA and medical devices, vendor contracting, licensing, and mergers and acquisitions.

Cohen, a partner in the Healthcare Practice Group, told the news site that, while the firm has long counseled healthcare industry clients on tech-related matters, this new team focuses those talents.  

"We've been doing digital healthcare work for a while, but I would have to say that the AI revolution that we're undergoing was certainly one of the driving factors," Cohen told Law360.

"We wanted to be able to have a team that could quickly respond to the evolving client needs that we've been seeing — whether it relates to commercial licensing agreements in the digital space, data privacy, data analytics. There's just a lot of different areas that our clients are continuing to encounter at a greater and greater frequency. And so we thought it was an opportune time to put together a more formal group to make sure that we can service our clients."
